Vika Hope “fell in love” with a man who kept bringing her stones from the sea.

The 33-year-old radio host, who is engaged to superstar DJ Calvin Harris, recalled being on a beach in South Africa when she met a man called Pedro but couldn’t talk to him because she didn’t speak Spanish. and eventually went to night school to learn the language.

She said: “I remember being on the beach in Nicaragua [South America] and this guy named Pedro kept bringing me rocks from the sea and I fell in love! I couldn’t talk to him because I didn’t speak any Spanish at the time, and at that point I made the decision to learn Spanish, which I did. I campaigned at my school to introduce Spanish as a subject, which eventually happened, but after I left. So I went to evening classes, got my A levels there.’

The BBC Radio 1 star went on to add that Pedro was always “on the back of her mind” as she continued to study French and Spanish at university and hoped he was “still out there handing out rocks to other women”.

Speaking on the Joyride podcast, she told hosts Jools Holland and Jim Moir: “It’s all about Pedro at the bottom of my heart! I went to university to study French Spanish… I haven’t seen Pedro since then, but I speak Spanish now! I guess he’s still out there giving rocks to the other girls.”
