Video shows Lyft driver kicking woman out of car for racist comment – NBC10 Philadelphia

He lives in Spanish here.

The owner of a bar in County Lehigh and her boyfriend will not be charged after earlier this month went viral video in which the driver refuses to go because of racist comments.

On Monday, Lihai County Attorney Jim Martin said: “No criminal charges will be brought against the conduct – although it is doomed.”

“After the investigation and negotiations with the district prosecutor’s office, no charges will be filed,” Katasaukua Police Chief Douglas F. Kish said in a release.

James Baud, Lyft driver, posted a viral video from the interior of his car to his Facebook page. The video has garnered millions of views on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit and more.

The footage, filmed on camera, took place on the night of May 13 near the Catasauqua Bar Fossil’s Last Stand in Lehigh County.

The district police department confirmed that the woman they saw sitting in Lyft was Jackie Harford, who owns Fossil’s.

Video, lasting just over a minute, begins when Harford gets into Bode’s car. He asks if this is a trip for “Jackie” and she confirms that.

“You’re like a white guy,” Harford says as she gets into the car from the back passenger. Bode asks, “What is this?”

“What are you, white guy?” Harford asks, then walks to the center of the car. “Are you a normal guy?” Harford says. “Do you speak English?”

A quick pause before Harford laughs, pats Bod on the shoulder and apologizes. Bode then tells her to get out of the car, saying that what Harford said was inappropriate.

“If someone wasn’t white and sat in this place, what would be the difference?” Bode asked.

The back passenger door of the car is still open, and Bode repeats to a man who, according to police, is a Harford guy standing near the car that he will not drive.

“Really?” the man says, “You’re x —– g a – a hole.”

Bode points to the camera in the car and tells the guy that everything is on video.

“I’ll punch you in the face,” says the man Bode.

Bode calls the couple “racist devils” when Harford gets out of the car.

That’s when a man calls him. “[n-word] lover ”.

Bode opens the window and tells the couple that he is calling the police.

Katasaukua Police Chief Douglas Tish confirmed that Bode had filed a report at 10:27 p.m. that night.

The elevator answered to the Bode video version has over 3.3 million views on Twitter.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Lyft driver @ Jameswb333 for the immediate cessation of this hatred and the preservation of our anti-discrimination policy of intolerance, “said Lift.” We are considering these riders and contacting James to thank them. “

The Fossil’s Last Stand website and Facebook page have been deactivated.

Yelp and TripAdvisor closed comments for both pages of the bar after they were flooded with negative reviews and ratings in one star.

Attempts to contact Bode were unsuccessful, but in a message last week, Bode expressed gratitude for the support he saw.

“But it must be everywhere, every time,” Bode wrote. – I don’t have to be the “guy” who did it or said it… we all have to be that kind of person. Speak when you are uncomfortable because it makes them uncomfortable as it should be. Fucking racism, ”Bode wrote.

NBC10’s Dean Durant said the Lyft driver’s father died last year and people who saw the viral video are donating to cover the cost of his funeral. Others share invigorating tips with his Lyft.

Fossil’s Last Stand remains closed.
