Spurs release Josh Prim over allegations of exposing himself in front of women – NBC10 Philadelphia

More details have emerged surrounding the San Antonio Spurs 2021 first-round draft pick Josh Primo.

Ramona Shelbourne and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported That release on Saturday night came amid numerous alleged incidents of Prima exposing himself to women.

Shams Charania from “Atletico” reported later. that a former Spurs employee is among the women who have accused Primo of exposing himself. The former Spurs employee has hired Tony Busby, who has represented more than 20 women in sexual misconduct lawsuits against NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson, as her attorney, Charanya reports.

San Antonio parted ways with Primo on Friday. Spurs CEO RC Buford said in a statement regarding the move: “We hope this decision is in the best interests of both the organization and Joshua in the long term.”

Head coach Gregg Popovich and the team declined to comment further on the release ahead of the game against Chicago Bulls on Friday.

Primo released a statement to ESPN on Friday saying he was going to take time off to focus more fully on his “mental health treatment.”

“I know you are all surprised by today’s announcement,” Prima said in a statement. “I have been seeking help to deal with past traumas and will now take this time to focus more fully on mental health treatment. I hope to be able to discuss these issues in the future to help others affected in a similar way. I appreciate my privacy at this time.”

The ESPN report added that “many NBA teams remain intrigued by Primo’s talent and potential, but are seeking a more complete understanding of the situation as they weigh the possibility of bidding for Primo.” The guard is scheduled to clear waivers and become a free agent Monday afternoon.

Prima, 19, was the youngest player in the 2021 NBA draft and was selected 12th overall by San Antonio. He made 54 appearances for Spurs in more than one season.

A couple of weeks ago, the Spurs exercised the third-year team option on Primo’s $4.3 million contract.
