Do they need to score more?

Detroit ranks last in points allowed.

Do they want to revitalize an ailing second half offense in particular?

Detroit ranks last there by a historic margin.

Do the Miami Dolphins want to get quarterback Tua Tagavailoa on track, keep him healthy and not worry about losses while giving confidence to a bigger offensive lineman?

Detroit’s defense is their good answer this Sunday as well. He ranks 30th in opposing quarterback ratings, 31st in sacks, 30th in sacks and last in yards allowed.

Wasn’t this day in Detroit just what the Dolphins offense needed — just what the neurologist ordered?

Sure, it’s on the road, but the road leads to the Miami Dolphins on a water Sunday. They just need to drink. Detroit is currently the NFL’s worst No. 1 overall draft team. His fans are ready to lose, having witnessed one playoff victory in 65 years. Even the domed stadium favors Sunday visitors.

“It’s a fast track,” Detroit quarterback Jared Goff said last season after opening games at Ford Field Indoor.

Is there a faster team than the Dolphins?

It’s time for the Miami Dolphins, who love their dynamic offense, to show off that dynamic offense again. It’s time for coach Mike McDaniel and quarterback Tagovailoa, who have formed a strong partnership, to remind us what their partnership can deliver again.

No one would have believed it after the magic in Baltimore last month — and a lot of people still don’t — but this electric Dolphins offense hasn’t been electric outside of halftime this year. It was disabled.

He scored 35 points in the second half against Baltimore.

He scored 29 points in the second half of six other games.

This is the 19th place in terms of results. He has not scored more than 20 points in six of seven games. Want a tip for this offense or want stats that show a different picture? Now that’s against a Detroit defense that forces the fewest punts on opponents in the league.

Look, there are reasons why the Dolphins’ offense has struggled, some very good reasons, from learning a new system to the quarterback roulette they’ve been playing. But there is no passing game against a defense where half of opposing offenses have their highest output this year and the other half is close to one point.

Detroit’s owner even set up this game in a terrible vote of confidence in this Detroit regime.

“We’ve got 11 more games, so I just don’t want everybody to hit the panic button and abandon ship,” Sheila Ford Hamp told reporters on Wednesday. “I think we have the right people to do it, and I truly believe that. If I didn’t say it, I wouldn’t say it.”

Now, Detroit coach Dan Campbell is everyone’s favorite Dolphins interim coach. That’s saying something considering the list has spanned the last 20 years.

Remember the first training session where he made the rookies fight through a circle of veterans? Remember when he was called “Dan-Talik” for his love of the heavy metal band Metallica? Remember the physical changes he made to that 2015 team that overcame its limited playmaking talent? Maybe two?

Campbell was given a six-year contract instead of the usual five because the roster was such a mess. Still a mess. This is the Lions, a team whose playoff drought has put the Dolphins to shame. One victory, sixty-five years?

Detroit fans root for their team. They just can’t take it seriously.

Dolphins fans? Sometimes they cheer for their team blindly. They had blowout wins over Baltimore, where they needed 28 points in the fourth quarter, and Buffalo, where they dominated the stat sheets.

Great seasons are built on such victories. Or exceptional games. We are still figuring out who these dolphins are.

Do they need to score more? Detroit offers them that. This is the worst defense in the league by a team that is the worst so far. Dolphins were brought to this water. Time to drink.
